Medical Missions Connect

Hello,

I am a neuroradiologist who occasionally gets involved in medical missions.

A lot of people are doing extensive goodwill via various medical/dental/ surgical missions all over the world, which is great.  However, my concern is: there are so many people from so many places and organizations that too often no one knows what others are doing, which may leave some locations over treated with missions and others neglected. Does a certain location need temporary large projects for short duration, or temporary staffing for a fixed site needing occasional support? So many people are willing to help, but I think lack of knowledge of who is doing what, when, and where, leaves a large gap in providing mission services.

My aim is to form this mission website so people can collaborate regarding medical missions: documenting accomplishments and future needs of a location, information for finding and joining mission groups, vetting of volunteers etc.  This website contains a classifieds section for advertising, borrowing or donating medical equipment/ supplies, or financial donation links.

I am asking your input to help coordinate medical missionaries and organizations better connect and serve people throughout the world - not trying to re-invent medical mission groups but trying to make a fractured, ad hoc system more universal and user friendly for organizations, patient communities and volunteers.

Sincerely,

James Gannon MD
